Clarence Nationals MP for Clarence Richie Williamson has welcomed the NSW Premier’s commitment to flood impacted residents in the Northern Rivers following a meeting today in the NSW Parliament.
Mr Williamson was joined by his Parliamentary colleagues, Geoff Provest, Janelle Saffin, Tamara Smith and the seven Mayors representing Northern Rivers communities to seek further commitments and the rollout of funding for the second phase of the Resilient Homes Program from the NSW Labor Government.
“I welcome the commitment made by Premier Minns for a reset on recovery and thank him for taking on board our concerns in a bipartisan way on behalf of the communities we represent,” Mr Williamson said.
“The Premier acknowledged there was more work to be done and the current situation was not good enough. He also gave an undertaking he would come back with a better plan in the coming weeks.”
Mr Williamson said it is vital residents impacted by the floods have certainty moving forward and adequate funding support for the continuation of buybacks, retrofits and housing raising through the Resilient Homes Program is paramount to that.
