$35,650 GRANT TO FENCE POPULAR SPORTS FIELD IN SOUTH GRAFTON

Clarence Valley Council has been successful in securing $35,650 from the NSW Government to fence the popular JJ Lawrence Field in South Grafton, Clarence Nationals MP Richie Williamson has announced.

Mr Williamson recently joined Clarence Valley Mayor Peter Johnstone and General Manager Laura Black along with South Grafton Junior Rugby League players and supporters to celebrate the funding win which will see new fencing constructed around the perimeter of the field.

“JJ Lawrence Field is a hugely popular sporting field used for rugby league, cricket, soccer and basketball and the new fencing is a welcome addition to the grounds,” Mr Williamson said.

“It will increase the safety and security of participants, benefitting numerous sporting clubs and schools across the Clarence Valley who use the field on a regular basis.

“This sensible funding investment will ensure the field remains a valuable and well-maintained asset, providing a safe, secure and welcoming environment for all users.

“The fencing will not only protect the field but it also promotes greater community engagement and enjoyment of this important recreational space.”

The fence installation will be approximately 624 metres of Hardwood Round Bollards with caps, spaced at 1.6 metre spacing to prevent vehicle access. Access chain gates to be installed for maintenance vehicles.   Works are expected to be completed before the end of the 2024/25 financial year.
